USED WITH: Okay, I bought SONY's HDR-SR12 Camcorder. It has a built in IR light, but it was only good for lighting up a room or small hallway. And, I needed something brighter. So, I ended up buying the HVL-IRM Nightshot to add more IR light. I was/am extremely impressed with it. It provides a nice amount of light.
USED FOR: I used it during my trip to Waverly Hills, which is a HUGE building. I didn't have any problems seeing in the dark. It helped light up the long dark hallways with ease. It also came in handy when I entered the Death tunnel, which is a VERY long tunnel with no light in it. Because of the added light, I was able to record things that I wouldn't have been able to see...Which was very important during my investigation at Waverly Hills.
BONUS: This comes with an extension bar which attaches to the bottom of Camcorders. It can be placed on the left or right side of the Camcorder as well. It's far enough out so it won't interfere with an LCD screen that may pop out on a Camcorder too. The bar is also fixed up so it won't interfere with tripods. You can have the IR Light's bar attached to the Camcorder and have it attached to the Tripod. I used that set-up quite a few times. Also, this can run on 2 AA Batteries or M Series Batteries. I used 2 AA Batteries and got 7 hours out of it. The brightness control is also a great feature, but I kept it on high most of the time. Because it's Battery operated, you don't have to have it attached to a Camcorder. You can place it just about anywhere.
