THE BEST CAMERA IN THE WORLD
Really an outstanding little camera. I say little since it seems Sony has shrunk this camera when compared to the DSR-500 which I also own. Although it could be an illusion from the '400 being a tad fatter than the '500?? Wonderful handling and I would sware the chips are sharper than in earlier cameras. Love the LCD screen and the assignable buttons (4). Also the cleaned up user settings panel--although one switch I miss is the DUR setting since I use that all the time on my dsr-500. And there is no Video Out just Monitor Out. Also, no 26-pin terminal. The images look great, color is wonderful, sound is good. I use the oc mic and WRR-855 all the time w/ECM-77, great! Very ergonomically friendly and comfortable to work with--love working with it. And very nice rubber finger grooves in the carry handle! Balances well on shoulder(IDX batteries)--shoulder pad assembly is new; simpler but comfortable. Also, the tape housing is different--more secure against dust & foreign objects. And, thank you SONY for re-arranging the filters so they make sense! They are Neutral Density, 1 allowing the most light in, 2, 3, then 4 allowing the least. But they are all the SAME color, namely ND. To change from daylight to tungsten and vice-versa, just push an easy-reach button near filter wheel; easy! Overall, for the money, it's a great value!
Problems Encountered: None so far. Owned for 4 months.
