Nice cover
When I attached a Hoodman eyepiece magnifier to my Sony EX1 that turned my LCD into a viewfinder. Which meant that my previous rain cover couldn't accommodate the new eyepiece.
I saw this at NAB in April and liked the ease of which it slips over the camera. The stiffened lens hood stays out of the way of my wide angle lens, for the most part, although it occasionally slips and becomes visible in a corner of the frame.
The way to avoid this is to make sure the brass "cold shoe" mount is tight and the Petrol rain cover's hood isn't snugged up too tightly.
It provides excellent protection, even against wave spray coming over the bow of a boat. As long as the water isn't coming straight at the lens, the camera's pretty safe. However, note that the front end is pretty much wide open. In harsh conditions, spray is likely to enter if you're facing into the wind.
I had the camera on the floor of a boat as it was slicing through some steep chop, and water was dumping onto it occasionally. I couldn't keep the camera in the forward cabin as it was too bouncy. But the Petrol cover kept the camera perfectly dry!
The plastic rail fits almost any "cold shoe" mount. The only thing I didn't like about the cover is that it doesn't readily accommodate the EX1's existing mic mount. I had to modify the one I was using in order to mount the mic outside the rain cover.
It's a nice cover. Does the job well and fits nicely over my camera, the associated shoulder mount, and the wireless mic receiver in the back.
It definitely does what it's supposed to do.
