I use this microphone on my Panasonic NV-GS500 (PAL) to record my son's live piano performances and the quality of the sound it produces with this camera is excellent. I typically use it in 'zoom' mode. Naturally it is not as good as using a properly set up mic located close to the piano, but it is as good as one can expect from a mic located on top of a video camera. The microphone is light and very convenient to use as it runs off the camera's hot shoe.
The recorded sound has a slight background hiss, but this can be easily removed afterwards with the appropriate software.
