Over the lens tele-prompters are great BUT you can't look away for more than a second or two. and they are uselss in the field. With the COMTEK EAR PROMPTER everything about your delivery is natural and as casual or urgent as it needs to be. Mini-recorder in your pocket or otherwise hidden, wireless earbud in your ear, loop around your neck, can be hidden even with an open collar. You record (with the director if necessary for special inflections or emphasis points, etc.) the copy to time then it plays back in your ear and you repeat it for the camera and mic. There may be a slight learning curve but really it's child's play, easy to learn how to use and once you perfect the skill you can do as many minutes as necessary non-stop direct to camera. As a talent, I have been in the field all over the world with copy being written and presented to me 10 minutes before shooting and can deliver a first take performance. Every time? Of course not but this little gem pays for itself time and time and time again. [...]I have bought, over about 20-25 years, 3 or 4 of these. Lost one, wore out two. Take care of it; keep it dry, corrosion from moisture (perspiration for example) can happen. After use let the induction coil and ear bud dry out before storing. You might consider storing it with fresh silica gel crystals (dirt cheap) to keep it dry. That's it. Awesome tool, worth its weight in gold, literally.
