I got this camera for Christmas and so far I am really happy with the video quality. I have mainly been shooting video of soccer games. I am recording at the highest quality setting. I copy the video from the camera to the computer with the included backup software and then edit the video with the Corel DVD Movie Factory SE software that came with the camera. I burn the edited video (AVCHD) to a regular DVD and play the DVD on my PS3. The picture is crisp and clear!
… I will upddate more info on the camera as I use it. For now, regarding the DVDirect MC5 Multi-Function DVD Recorder which is offered as an accessory, you can not use recorder to record directly from the AVCHD video directly from the camera. I have used the recorder to backup my old Hi8 and Digital8 tapes and it does this job great. I also bough a filter which I have not used yet and most likely will never use. This camera does not have a lens hood instead it has an automatic lens protector which opens and closes according to whether power is on or off. Finally if you buy a camera bag (which I also got) make sure it will not be too small for your camera. The one I originally bought which B&H listed as an accessory was way too small. It was only big enough to tightly fit only the camera.
